Presented by Sameksha Gallery for the Alekh Foundation as part of its annual fundraiser Anant Samagam at Travancore Palace,
Contours of Continuum is an exploration of artistic identity, geography, and contemporary expression. The exhibition brings
together artists connected to Rajasthan, Assam, and West Bengal – three regions distinct in landscape and culture, yet deeply
intertwined through histories of trade, storytelling, devotion, and visual imagination.
Contours of Continuum unfolds through two curatorial streams. The first, “Artists Interpreting the Three Regions,” invites
contemporary artists to engage with the elemental symbolism of each land:
Rajasthan, where the blazing sun and tones of orange evoke creation and vitality.
Assam, where the lush greens reflect nature’s generosity and abundance.
West Bengal, where blue echoes the rhythm and fluid force of water.
The second stream, “Artists From Rajasthan, Assam & West Bengal,” highlights contemporary artists originating from these
states. Their works, distinct in medium and vision, celebrate artistic excellence and individuality while acknowledging a shared
cultural inheritance.
Together, the two streams present a dialogue between place and practice, legacy and innovation. Through this exhibition,
Contours of Continuum reflects the cyclical essence of creation – from origin to abundance, from river to sea – inviting viewers
to consider the enduring continuity that connects human creativity with the natural world.
