Sameksha Gallery is thrilled to present An Invisible Bind, a compelling group exhibition that emerged from an extraordinary convergence of artistic vision and intellectual discourse. Five remarkable contemporary women artists invite you into a world where invisible threads connect us all-threads that transcend borders, cultures, and time itself.

This exhibition was born not in a traditional studio, but amidst the breathtaking foothills of the Dhauladhar range in Dharamshala, where these artists embarked on an intensive five-day creative retreat unlike any other. Rather than focusing solely on technique or medium, this transformative
camp became a crucible of ideas-a space where profound conversations about contemporary practice, identity, and artistic purpose unfolded under the guidance of renowned art theoretician Mahendra Damle, Dean of Rachana Sansad College, Mumbai.
Through Damle’s thoughtful provocations and probing questions, these artists grappled with fundamental questions: What does it mean to be contemporary? How do our individual practices speak to larger cultural narratives? What invisible forces shape our creative expressions? The works you encounter today are the outcome of those mountain dialogues.
Through their distinctive choices of material and metaphor, these five artists reveal how disparate stories weave themselves into a unified tapestry of human experience, creating symbols of shared memory, resilience, and identity. As you move through the exhibition, you’ll discover that each work pulses with emotions that span the spectrum unwavering belief to raw vulnerability. These artworks resonate with the essential within us, reflecting our deepest need for belonging while celebrating the creative power that emerges when individual voices join in harmony.
An Invisible Bind is more than an exhibition; it’s an invitation to contemplate the beautiful complexities and tensions that arise when lives intersect, when stories converge, and when art becomes a bridge between souls. Step forward and discover the threads that connect us all
