Deepak Kumar Rai
Deepak Kumar Rai’s work treats the artwork as documenting and questioning the disappearing identity, water bodies, culture and the
persistence of ritual through painting, printmaking, and mixed media. By embedding surfaces with materials inherent to the rural economy
such as dust, gamchha and residue, he enacts the physical toll of displacement in his work of art. Central to his composition is the
matriarchal figure(Bucket), who serves as an anchor of cultural memory against the pressures of a shifting landscape,disappearing ritual and
waterbodies.
Born in 2003 in a small village Manguraha Tajpur in Muzaffarpur District, Bihar, is a Visual Art Practitioner, Currently based in New Delhi
whose practice investigates the dissonance between rural origins and urban existence. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting (2024)
and Master of Fine Arts (2024-2026) from the College of Art, University of Delhi, New Delhi.
