Sweety Chakma is an artist from Arunachal Pradesh, whose practice engages with themes of trauma, identity, and personal narrative. A member of the Chakma community, her work reflects lived experiences and cultural memory, reinterpreted through the lens of printmaking and contemporary visual language. She holds an MFA in Printmaking from Kala Bhavana, Visva Bharati University, where she honed her technical and conceptual grounding. In 2022, she was awarded the Kala Sakshi Memorial Trust Scholarship, recognizing her as one of the most promising emerging artists of her generation. Her artworks often navigate intimate histories while resonating with broader discourses of belonging and resilience. Through this practice, Chakma continues to contribute a vital voice to contemporary Indian art.
