Sumit Sarkar
Sumit Sarkar is a contemporary visual artist and Associate Professor at the School of Visual Arts, World University of Design (Sonipat/Delhi NCR). He studied painting at Kala Bhavana, Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan, and earlier at Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata, building a strong academic and artistic foundation. With over eight years of professional practice, his works have been showcased internationally in Glasgow, Busan, Italy, Thailand, Dubai, Beijing, and Dhaka, including participation in the Beijing, Bangladesh, and South Korea Biennales. He has received numerous honors such as the Kala Sakshi Memorial Trust Award, Bombay Art Society Award, Camel Art Foundation Award, and the Ministry of Culture (NHRD) scholarship. Recently, he was invited as an International Artist to Vietnam, conducting workshops at Van Lang University and participating in the Harmony International Art Exhibition. Versatile in his approach, Sarkar’s practice spans painting, murals, stagecraft, and workshops, reflecting his belief in the transformative power of art.
