Sarban Chowdhury
Sarban Chowdhury (b.1992) completed his BFA & MFA from the Government College of Art & Craft, Kolkata in Ceramic Art & Pottery. Currently he is pursuing his PhD from the School of Design at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Jodhpur. He works as an Assistant Professor with the department of Fashion & Lifestyle Accessories (F&LA) at National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Jodhpur.
He has been invited to symposiums, exhibitions, talk shows, conferences and artist residency programs within India and abroad, including Taoxichuan Ceramic Art Avenue in Jingdezhen China, Miedzynarodowy Plener Ceramiczno Rzezbiarski sympozjum in Boleslawiec Poland, Namwon Chunhyang Cultural Arts Centre in South Korea, International Wood Fire Ceramic Symposium in Russia, Museum of Goa, Art Ichol in Maihar, Piramal Art Foundation in collaboration with Nehru Science Centre Mumbai, Lalit Kala Akademi, Uttarayan Art Foundation Vadodara et cetera. He is a recipient of few accolades and recognitions including Prince Claus Fund Grant Amsterdam, Artdemic by Gujral Foundation, Prafulla Dahanukar Award and National Scholarship by Ministry of Culture et cetera. He recently had his debut solo show “The Toothless Times” at Apre Art House in Mumbai apart from other major exhibitions with Emami Art, MASH, Latitude 28, Raza Foundation, Gallerie Nvya, Shristi Art, Jaipur Art Week, CIMA et cetera. He has featured on prominent magazines and publications including CeramicsNow, Vogue India, Design India, Platform Mag, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, Hakara Journal, The New Indian Express, Mint Lounge et cetera among others.
