Champa Sharath
Born in 1979, Mysore, Karnataka.
She completed her Masters in Printmaking from Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S. University, Baroda (2003) and her Bachelors in Printmaking from the Chamarajendra Academy of Visual Arts, Mysore (2000).
She has held several solo shows namely ‘AVATARS’, Gallery Sumukha, Bengaluru (2025); ‘Divine Phantoms’, Gallery Sumukha, Bengaluru (2018); ‘Mirror of the Mind’, Gallery Sumukha, Bengaluru (2007); Exhibition of Woodcut prints at Shristi Art Gallery, Hyderabad (2006); Exhibition of Graphic Prints at Welcome Art Gallery, Windsor Sheraton & Towers, ITC Bangalore presented by Gallery Sumukha (2005).
Her wood-cuts and graphic prints have been featured in several group exhibitions which include ‘Visible/Invisible: representation of women in art through MAP Collection, MAP Bengaluru (2023/2025) Seattle Art Fair, Gallery Sumukha, Seattle, USA (2022); ‘The Drawing Show – Part II’, Gallery Sumukha, Bengaluru (2021); The Delhi Contemporary Art Week- Edition 3, Gallery Blueprint 12, New Delhi (2019); The Human Animal, curated by Martha Jakimowitz, Religare, New Delhi (2009); India on Canvas by Khushi Foundation, New Delhi (2009); 6th Bharat Bhavan Print Biennale, Bhopal, (2004); ‘Footprints – Women in Printmaking’, curated by Kavita Shah, a traveling show at Vadodara, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bangalore & Kansas, USA, (2006); ‘Mark, Etch & Print’, a show of prints held at New Delhi (2006); ‘Rekha Namana’, a group show of drawings in memory of Late Sri K K Hebbar, Venkatappa Art Gallery, Bangalore (2005); 67th & 68th National Exhibition of Art, Lalit Kala Akademi, Amritsar, (2001); ‘Srujana’, a group show at CAVA Art Gallery, Mysore, (2000); Groups exhibitions at The Kolkata Regional Centre of Lalit Kala Akademi, Kolkata, (2000); Karnataka Lalit Kala Akademi, Bangalore (2000), Karnataka Shilpa Kala Akademi, Bangalore, (1999); Mysore Dasara Fine Arts Exhibitions, Mysore, (1997, 1998 & 1999).
She has participated and conducted several graphic camps such as Woodcut workshop for the students of Chamarajendra Academy of Visual Arts (CAVA), Mysuru (2023) & (2018); Printmaking camp, Uttarayan, Vadodara (2022); Printmaking workshop at RMZ Ecospace, Bengaluru (2018); Printmaking workshop at Lalit Kala Akademi, Bengaluru (2007); ‘Prints and Multiples’, Graphic workshop, The Guild Art Gallery, Mumbai (2005); Painting Camp for Women Artists, by Progressive Artists Group, Kerala (2005); Printmaking workshop at Gallery Sumukha, Bangalore, (2004); Printmaking workshop organized by The Guild Art Gallery, Mumbai (2004); Printmaking workshop, West zone Cultural Centre, Lucknow Lalit Kala Akademi, Jaipur (2002).
She has also been invited as external jury at the Chamarajendra Academy of Visual Arts (CAVA), Mysuru (2024) & (2018) and at the Printmaking Dept. at M. S. University, Vadodara (2018).
Champa lives and works in Bengaluru.
