Bajju Vamsi
Bajju Vamsi (b. 1993) is a prominent contemporary Indian sculptor based in Vadodara, Gujarat, and a 2019 Kala Sakshi Memorial Trust Awardee. His practice is a profound investigation into the paradox of human emotions, using ancient architectural forms as a primary reference to explore how two opposing realities can exist simultaneously. Vamsi views architecture not merely as a utility or living space, but as a sacred vessel where memories and experiences are created and stored.
His work seeks to establish a deep, intuitive connection with the viewer by tapping into the “essence” of specific spaces, allowing the audience to engage with the work through their own personal memories rather than a predetermined meaning. By juxtaposing contrasting industrial materials—most notably aluminum and wood—he symbolizes the tension between organic fragility and structural rigidity. A graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts, MS University of Baroda, he continue to redefine the architectural element as a silent protagonist in the landscape of human feeling.
