Anilakumar Govindappa
Anilakumar Govindappa is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans printmaking, painting, ceramics, and installations. He graduated in Painting from KEN School of Art, Hampi University (2012) and earned his Master’s in Printmaking from the University of Hyderabad (2015). His works have been exhibited nationally and internationally, including at the Osten Biennale of Drawing, Skopje (2016); Chi Gallery, Iran (2020); Vusawthis Art Gallery, Canada (2020); and Immerse, Mumbai (2022). Recognized with awards such as the Young Artists Award from the Ministry of Culture, the Karnataka Lalit Kala Akademi Scholarship, and the South Indian Art Exhibition Jury Award (Chandra Ilango Foundation), he has also participated in several residencies including the Karnataka Lalit Kala Akademi Fellowship (2021) and Space Studio Sculpture Residency (2020).
Rooted in personal observation, his practice often resembles a diary of everyday life, weaving together people, places, and events with metaphorical imagery. Through this process, Anilakumar creates visual narratives that act as layered short stories, reflecting on memory, perception, and the symbolic essence of human experience.
