Rachita Ghosh (b 2001) is a visual artist based in Kolkata whose practice investigates loss and memory. Born in a small village in the suburbs of Malda, she gained her bachelor’s degree in 2023 and her master’s degree in 2025 from Rabindra Bharati University in Kolkata.

Her artistic practice pivots around the conversation ofloss and memory that resides within oneself. After the untimely death of her mother at a very young age, her work became a primary route to communicate. Being raised in a household with no siblings and the absence of her mother, her practice narrates the lived and shared memories of her childhood. Primarily working with painting, her work is the residue of the memories that she reflects through the well-intricate details of her paintings. The works reflect as a visual journal through which she explores the narratives ofloss, love, childhood memories, and mundane emotions.

In her recent works, she explores these emotional narratives through different materials; one particular one is flowers. She describes her relationship with the flowers, which are often received from loved ones as gifts that hold memories and emotional gesture which speaks through her visual language. She works with mediums like drawing, found objects, painting, and sensory works. Her work intertwines with her personal emotional narratives of residing in society and the impacts that it has on her physically and subconsciously. Her work is a soft-spoken language yet with a powerful resonance ofliving one life, curing the loss, and her personal take on preservation through her visual language.

Ghosh’s work has been exhibited in Rabindra Bharati University Students’ Annual Exhibition (2022, 2023,2024,2025); West Bengal State Academy of Dance, Drama and Visual Arts, Annual Exhibition (2023 and 2024); Kala Sakshi Art Scholarship Exhibition (2023);Chotamota Foundation Exhibition (2022,2023, and 2024).
